UNAUTOMATEDTHE HUMAN INTELLIGENCE PROJECT

Automate the work. Never automate the human.

HUMAN JUDGMENT. REAL CONSEQUENCE. A BETTER FUTURE.

  • DISCERNMENT. Examine what is true.
  • PRUDENCE. Decide what is worth doing.
  • WISDOM. Act with good judgment.

I Choose to Remain Unautomated

Adopt the Ten Commitments. Receive the Guided Policy Blueprint.

UNAUTOMATED is for people and organizations who believe technology should serve humanity without replacing human judgment. This voluntary pledge records your decision to stand behind the complete Ten Commitments as one shared standard, then opens a free 30-day Blueprint workspace.

Participation does not reject artificial intelligence. It affirms that people remain responsible for how AI is designed, deployed, reviewed, challenged, and used. Adoption is private by default and is not certification, surveillance, a political statement, endorsement, an audit result, legal compliance, or evidence of future conduct.

What happens next

Choose whether you are participating as an individual or on behalf of an organization, add contact details, read the complete framework, then affirm it as one whole commitment. Next, you will create or sign in to a private workspace with the same email to begin a structured 30-day policy process. You can keep the pledge record private or separately choose public recognition.

Who is making this pledge?
Read the complete Ten Commitments framework
  1. Commitment One. Every person affected by an artificial intelligence system holds a value that exists before the system evaluates them, and that value cannot be assigned, revoked, or diminished by any score, profile, or prediction.
  2. Commitment Two. No artificial intelligence system may be used to deceive a person about whether they are dealing with a human being or a machine, when that distinction matters to the trust between them.
  3. Commitment Three. A person's private information belongs to that person, and may not be collected, stored, or used beyond what is necessary and disclosed, regardless of what is technically possible to gather.
  4. Commitment Four. Every consequential decision made with the assistance of artificial intelligence remains the responsibility of a specific, identifiable person or institution, and no system may be offered as the final answer to why something happened.
  5. Commitment Five. Every person affected by a consequential automated decision retains the right to a human review, a clear explanation, and a real path to appeal, correct, or reverse that decision.
  6. Commitment Six. Fairness must be tested, not assumed, and any system that performs well on average must still be examined for how it fails the people the average conceals.
  7. Commitment Seven. The capability to build a system is not, by itself, permission to build it, and some uses of artificial intelligence must be refused entirely regardless of their profitability or convenience.
  8. Commitment Eight. The obligations of artificial intelligence extend beyond the person using it, to the communities, workers, and shared world affected by its consequences, and no system may treat those wider costs as someone else's concern.
  9. Commitment Nine. Progress must be measured by whether human beings are living fuller, more capable lives, not merely by whether a system has made a task faster.
  10. Commitment Ten. The future shaped by artificial intelligence is not fixed, and every person, institution, and generation retains the standing to choose a better one than the one currently being built.

By submitting this pledge, I affirm that I make this commitment on my own behalf. I adopt the Ten Commitments for Responsible AI as a complete and interdependent standard for guiding my use of artificial intelligence. I understand that this pledge is a voluntary statement of intent and responsibility. It is not a certification, legal determination, compliance finding, or guarantee of future conduct. I commit to ongoing human judgment, accountability, and review as AI use evolves.
